| S/Ldr CWYNAR MICHAL
Born on 14 November 1915 in Orzechowka (later Lvov province).He graduated from
a primary, and a secondary school in Brzozow. In 1933 he joined the Junior Cadet
Officers School in Bydgoszcz, from which he graduatedin 1936 as
a mechanic with elementary flying training. He completed full flying training
in the Air Force Officers Training Centre in Sadkow, near Radom, and was assigned
to a training flight at 1Air Wing in Warsaw. In May 1937 he was posted to the
Advanced Flying Training School in Grudziadz. Having graduated from it he was
assigned to 113 Fighter Flight of 1 Air Wing. For the next six months (from May
1938) hebelonged to a group of seven pilots covering from the air the fortifications
on a distance from Pinsk to Krzemieniec Podolski. In September 1939 he fought
in the Pursuit Brigade. On 1 September 1939 he shot down a German Ju 87 and damaged
a Bf 109. He reached France via Romania. There he joined the Polish Air Force.
During the German-French war he fought in the front section Groupe de Chasse
III/6 under command of F/O Wladyslaw Baranski. After the armistice, he flew to
Algiers on a Dewoitine 520 aircraft, and on 17 July 1940 he reached Great Britain
via Gibraltar. On 27 September 1940 he started air training in British aircraft,
and on 25 April 1941 was assigned to No. 315 (Polish) Fighter Squadron City of
Deblin. On 14 August 1941 he shot down a German fighter Bf 109, and on 16 September
another one. On 1 June 1942 he was promoted to pilot officer. On 3 February 1943
he won
another air combat with a Bf 109 fighter.Between combat sorties, from 5 May 1943
he was an instructor in 58 OTU. On 24 November 1943 he returned to No. 315 Squadron,
and from 7 June 1944 he was a flight commander. On 30 July
1944 he shot down 1 and 1/2 of Bf 109 in air combat. On 22 September 1944 he
went to Blackpool for a rest. There he completed a course for flying instructors,
and after the course worked in 133 Wing HQ. On 3 July 1945 he became the commander
of No. 316 (Polish) Fighter Squadron City of Warsaw. He remained at that post
until 10 September
1945, and then became the wing commander s aide-de-camp. He took part in 129
combat sorties and shot down six German aircraft.In December 1948 he retired
from air force service. He settled in Great Britain and founded his own firm.
