| CHALUPA STANISLAW
Born on 14 January 1915 at Zaraz near Crzanow in Cracow region. After
passing his general Certificaate of Education exams he volunteered
for a military service. He was posted to Szkola Podchorazych Rezerwy
Artylerii (Artillery Reserve Cadet Officers1 School) at Wlodzimierz
Wolynski (now Volodymir Volynskyi in Belarus). In January 1936 he joined
Szkola
Podchorazych Lotnictwa (Air Force Cadet Officers1 School) at Demblin.
He was comissioned in 1938, and was posted to 2 Pulk Lotniczy (2nd
Air Regiment) in Cracow. He took part in the Operation Zaolzie. In
September 1939 he fought in 123 Eskadra Mysliwska (123rd Fighter Flight)
which was part of Brygada Poscigowa (Pursuit Brigade). On 3 September
1939
he shared a Bf 110 destroyed with the other pilots of his section (ppor.pil.Erwin
Kawnik and ppor.pil. Tadeusz Kratke).
He reached France via Rumania, and underwent conversion training on
French equipment in the first group of pilots. He was posted to Groupe
de Chasse I/2 (I/2 Fighter Squadron). During the combat he down (according
to his own combat diary): a Ju 88 on 11 May 1940, an He 111 on 2 June
1940, a Bf 109 and a Ju 87 on 8 June 1040. He was wounded in combat.
Upon arrival in Britain he underwent conversion training and on 27
July 1940 he was posted to no. 302 (Polish) Squadron City of Poznan,
then being formed. In this unit he fought during in the Battle of Britain.
On 24 August 1940 he damaged a Ju 88 and on 15 September 1940 he shot
down a Do 17, and probably destroyed another Do 17. On 20 September
1940 he was wounded during a crash-landing, and was forced to give
up operational flying. On 21 December 1940 he was awarded Srebrny Krzyz
virtuti Military (Silver Cross of Virtuti Military) no.08993. Released
from operational flying, he was no. 302 Squadron Operations Room controller.
On 24 June 1944 he was posted to no. 16 Flying Training School at Newton
for an instructor1s master course. In January 1945 he was posted for
a pilot1s navigation course. Upon completion of this he returned to
Newton as navigation instructor. In 1946 he left the Polish Air Force.

he was awarded :
Krzyz Walecznych (Cross of Valour).
He left to Canada.
In 1995 he wasreturned to Poland. |
