S/Ldr ANDERSZ TADEUSZ

 

 

Born on 27 September 1918 in Haensbrook in the Netherlands. He completed a secondary school in Poznan and decided for further professional service in air force. In 1937, on 21 September he joined a divisional reserve cadet
officers course at 57 Infantry Regimentin Poznan. On 2 January 1938 he started education at the Air Force Cadet

Officers School in Deblin. He graduated from it in 1939 within13th promotion.Having reached France and undergone conversion training, he fought in a fighter patrol unit in defence of Rennes. In Great Britain he underwent conversion training on new equipment and was being prepared for combat operation at 56 OTU in Sutton Bridge. On 3 June 1941

he was assigned to No. 315 (Polish) Fighter Squadron City of Deblin. On 5 April 1943 he became a flight commander
in that squadron. On 4 April 1943 he shot down a Fw 190. From 15 November 1943 until 9 March 1944 he was a flying training instructor in 61 OTU. From 9 March until 18 August 1944 he fought in a squadron of 84 USAAF Fighter Group. From 19 August 1944 until 6 April 1945 he commanded No. 315 Squadron. On 22 November 1944 he was escorting 12 British Lancasters which sank a German battleship Tirpits. On 21 February 1945 he probably shot down a Fw 190. From January 1946 until January 1947 he was the last commander of No. 306 (Polish) Fighter Squadron City of Torun. In 1947
he graduated from the Air Academy. He flew 72 combat sorties, 29 operation flights and was credited with 2 kills of German aircraft and 1 probably. After the war he remained in Great Britain. He served in RAF. For a short time he was an aide-de-camp of the President of the Republic of Poland  Ryszard Kaczorowski. He was a manager of the Social Fund of the Polish Air Force Association in Great Britain. He lives in London. He often visits the School of Eaglets in Deblin.
